A magnificent rare, large ash bowl.

Adam settee

Adam settee

A beautiful Adam mahogany camelback settee, ca 1780.  The moulded toprail of excellent colour and patina ends in reeded downswept arms, resting on a serpentine seatrail with embellishments of roundels with ribbon tied husks and flower decoration.  The settee stands on eight finely turned and fluted legs retaining the original brass cups and castors.  The seat with padded cushion.  A very delicate and elegant piece of period furniture that would look great in a classic aswell as a contemporary setting.

A superb late 18th century rectangular gilded mirror in the neo-classical style.  This mirror having a raised superstructure of a classical urn draped with husks and flanked by pendant drapes surmounted by weat-ears and flowers and resting on a tablet depicting a torche and foliage.  The mirror plate enclosed by a pair of ribbon entwined columns topped by foliage and resting on a roundel at each side.

An exquisite Queen Anne desk of small proportions with wonderful patina.  The overhung top opens to reveal an arrangement of 4 pigeon holes and 7 drawers, with a leather lined writing surface.  The fall with reading ledge and the top are feather banded.  Two short and 1 long feather banded drawer above 4 faceted tapering pillar legs on bun feet.  Between the legs an x-shaped stretcher with central finial.

Description

A superb quality Queen Anne walnut double domed bureau bookcase.  Carefuly choosen well figured veneers, retaining a beautiful colour and patina.  The upper part with a fully fitted interior, drawers, pigeon holes, folio divisions, an arched cupboard with another three small drawers.  Closed by domed, bevelled mirrored doors.  The lower part, also with fitted interior, secret drawers, a well.  The fall with book rest. Below the fall two short drawers over two long graduated drawers.  The whole  is  veneered and feather banded.

Beautiful 18th century Pembroke table with rectangular top inlaid with a large panel of burr yew and crossbanded in purple heart wood and edged in sycamore with boxwood stringing.  The drop leaves are above a long central frieze drawer.  Raised on square tapering legs with brass castors.
