Stunning Altar Seat in Royal Yellow Marble, completely hand carved in the round, representing St. Peter with the keys to Heaven (or Paradise). Such Sculpture was a chair for the choirs. It comes from a private collection in Venice. Single block, completely carved, 19th century. There were a total of 12 (the twelve apostles), some were recovered, including St. Paul, St. Luke, Judas, Mark, John, etc.. Work of exquisite quality and high workmanship. Remarkable care and precision of detail, lot more unique than rare. Bright and bright is the shade of marble, phenomenal veining, marble really valuable and rare. Exceptional as a piece of furniture. You could create a small table with a glass top should you wish to complete the pair. On the bottom is the name. It is in excellent condition, undamaged.
