Royal Yellow Marble Altar Seat, completely carved in the round by hand, depicting St. Paul. Origin Venice, private collection, 1800 period.
St. Paul is represented with a sword as in his classic iconography. The sword is made of iron and is removable.
This Sculpture was a chair for choirs. It comes from a private collection in Venice.
There were a total of 12 (the twelve apostles). Some of them have been recovered, among which St. Peter, St. Luke, Judas, Mark, John, Matthew etc..
