Beautiful Altar seat in Royal Yellow Marble, completely hand carved in the round, representing Judas with a small bag (containing denarii probably) in his hand. Period 1800 Such Sculpture was a chair for the choirs. It comes from a private collection in Venice. There were 12 in total (the twelve apostles), several have been recovered, including St. Peter, St. John, St. Luke, St. Mark, St. Matthew, St. Paul.... Work of exquisite quality and high workmanship. Remarkable care and precision of detail, lot more unique than rare. Bright and bright is the shade of marble, phenomenal veining, marble really valuable and rare. Exceptional as a piece of furniture. You could create a small table with a glass top in case you want to complete the pair. Is in excellent condition, intact.
