Masterful High Relief in Vicenza Stone depicting a glorious Lion of St. Mark, from Venice. Period 19th century. Spectacular work, unique in the world. The dimensions are remarkable, the weight is considerable. To highlight, despite the size, the quality of the anatomy of the Lion, the care and precision of detail. The lion is depicted with the book open and the classic Latin phrase inscribed "Pax tibi Marce, evangelista meus" or "Peace to you, Mark, my evangelist. Work obtained and carved from a single block of Vicenza Stone, a precious stone, which with the passage of time has taken on an elegant and wonderful patina.
