Phenomenal Venetian tile, depicting Lion of St. Mark in Moléca with the open gospel in Botticino marble, ( in dialect called "Leon in moeca," this expression is due to the position in which the Lion is commonly portrayed, while holding, below, the gospel clutched between its two legs taking on an appearance that by the shape of the wings appears similar to that of a crab, in Venetian moléca is the name of small crabs ).

The anatomy of the lion is carved with high accuracy, refined and elegant, but at the same time powerful and muscular.
Lot more unique than rare, of extreme and important quality, excellent workmanship.
It is in excellent condition, completely intact in all its parts.
