Masterful Masonic altar - H 105 cm
Magnificent Masonic altar in Carrara marble.
Private collection, Venice, 19th century.
A unique work of its kind, a real gem.
An extremely rare and finely crafted object.
The composition features two intertwined snakes surrounding a skull, accompanied by a symbolic ensemble with the Eye of Providence carved in relief. The base, supported by classical-style columns, reinforces the solemnity and ritual significance of the altar. This piece, with its extraordinary presence and symbolic meaning, was used in Masonic rituals, as evidenced by both its iconography and structure.
It is a composition, therefore, of several pieces fitted together to create this unique work.
